PSA SABRE-10A2 SUPER SASS RIFLE REVIEW

Build Quality

The SUPER SASS uses high-end components rarely seen at this price point: Faxon match barrel, quality BCG, adjustable gas block, and solid Cerakote or nitride finishes. Fit and finish are impressive — tight receiver lockup, clean machining, no slop. It feels like a rifle costing $800–$1,200 more, with attention to detail that holds up through heavy use.

Accuracy

This rifle consistently achieves sub-MOA groups (often 0.5–0.8 MOA) with quality match ammunition such as Federal Gold Medal Match, Hornady Match, or Black Hills. The 20″ Faxon 5R barrel, crisp two-stage trigger, and stable platform make it easy to print tight groups at 100–600 yards and still hit steel reliably out to 800–1,000 yards in good conditions.

Ergonomics

The adjustable B5 CPS stock allows perfect cheek weld and length-of-pull customization for prone, bench, or seated shooting. The slim M-LOK handguard is comfortable for long sessions, and the overall balance — while heavy — feels deliberate and steady. Controls are familiar AR-10 style, with many configs including ambi safety and mag release.

Reliability

The rifle-length gas system paired with an adjustable gas block delivers soft, smooth cycling and reduced recoil in .308. It runs reliably across a wide range of ammo after proper break-in, with very few reported stoppages in reviews and user testing. Heat management is solid thanks to the barrel profile and fluting (on some versions).

Value

At roughly $1,500–$2,000 (depending on forged or billet config), the SUPER SASS offers near-boutique performance for half the price of comparable rifles from LaRue, Daniel Defense, or LMT. You get a match barrel, premium trigger, adjustable stock, and quality rail — exceptional bang-for-buck in the precision .308 semi-auto category.

Pros and Cons: the real talk

Pros

  • Sub-MOA (often 0.5–1 MOA) with match ammo
  • Premium Faxon 5R match-grade barrel
  • Adjustable gas block for tuning (suppressed or unsuppressed)
  • Crisp two-stage trigger
  • Fully adjustable B5 CPS stock for perfect fit
  • 15″ M-LOK rail ready for bipods, lights, etc.
  • Outstanding value — competes with $3,000+ rifles

Cons

  • Heavy (10–11 lbs) — not built for run-and-gun
  • Factory compensator usually swapped for brake or suppressor mount
  • Needs quality match ammo to reach full accuracy potential
  • Minor QC items (loose screws, loctite checks) reported by some

Who’s it for?

Perfect for precision rifle competitors, long-range enthusiasts, designated marksman roles, hunters who want semi-auto reach, or anyone who wants serious .308 accuracy without spending boutique money. Ideal for bench, prone, or static shooting where weight isn’t a drawback.

Final Verdict

The PSA SABRE-10A2 SUPER SASS is one of the best value precision rifles available in 2026. With a match-grade barrel, tunable gas system, excellent ergonomics, and consistent sub-MOA performance, it delivers 80–90% of high-end semi-auto .308 capability at half the cost. Highly recommended for shooters who want long-range precision without a $3,000+ price tag.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the SUPER SASS really?

Sub-MOA is common (0.5–1 MOA) with match ammo like Federal GMM or Hornady ELD-M; many users report 0.75 MOA or better average groups.

Forged or billet — which should I get?

Forged is lighter and cheaper with great performance; billet adds better fit/finish, ambi controls, and sometimes a folding stock — go billet if budget allows.

Can I run a suppressor on it?

Yes — it uses 5/8×24 threads. Swap the compensator for a direct-thread or QD mount. The adjustable gas block makes suppression easy to tune.

What’s better — this or a $2,500+ AR-10?

For most shooters, the SUPER SASS delivers around 90% of the performance at roughly half the price thanks to the Faxon barrel and quality components.

Does it come optics-ready?

Yes — it uses a flat-top receiver with a Picatinny rail (often with a 20 MOA cant), making it perfect for precision scopes or LPVO setups.

Is it reliable right out of the box?

Yes. After a short break-in and function check, it runs very reliably. The rifle-length gas system and adjustable gas block help ensure smooth operation.

0:05 Hey everybody, welcome back to the Armed Scotsman. Today on the table we have PSA’s Super SAS. Let’s get this going.

0:34 Alright everybody, as I said this is PSA’s Super SAS chambered in .308. Let’s go ahead and get this started.

0:42 What it does come with: three metal mags. It will accept generic PMags and similar, but it comes with three which is very nice. It also comes with a Savior rifle range bag — very nice little extra.

0:59 It does not come with this optic. This is a Primary Arms GLx 2.5-10x. We’ll do a full review of this scope down the line. Really nice glass, made in the Philippines.

1:24 Starting at the back: this is a B5 CPS stock. It’s really nice with awesome adjustments for length of pull and an adjustable cheek riser so you can get perfectly dialed in behind your scope. It also has QD sling attachments on either side.

1:57 This is a rifle-length buffer system. PSA is now double staking their castle nuts and it looks very good. One nice addition is the Law Tactical folding stock.

2:20 This L-Tactical folding stock locks up solid. Really impressed with it. First time using one and it’s excellent.

2:38 We have a Radian ambi charging handle with PSA branding. Excellent charging handle.

2:52 There are two versions of this gun: forged and billet. This is the billet version — 7075 billet upper and lower.

3:07 It comes with a Radian ambi safety (currently set at 90°, but you can change it to 45° short throw). Very positive safety.

3:24 On the billet version you get this extra little button — it’s a bolt release (not a catch). Really nice textured button you can hit with your index finger. Same nice texturing on the mag release.

3:56 You’ve got anti-walk pins and PSA’s two-stage trigger. First stage is about 2–2.5 lbs, nice break on the second stage. Decent trigger right out of the box.

4:21 Enhanced one-piece trigger guard (part of the lower). B5 grip with aggressive texturing on the front and sides. Good grip angle and feels great in the hand.

4:53 Battle Arms Development takedown pins — nice upgrade. Flared magwell. Full-length 1913 Picatinny rail on top.

5:31 Moving up to the handguard: really nice size with Saber lock-up system, QD sling attachments, and M-Lok slots all around.

6:01 Under the handguard is an adjustable gas block and the real star — the Faxon match-grade barrel. 5R rifling, .308, 1:10 twist, MPI tested, 416R steel. Excellent barrel.

6:46 Because of the Law Tactical folder you have to remove both takedown pins to field strip. Here’s the bolt carrier group — MPI tested, nice staking.

7:54 Let’s talk about accuracy. I was at the 100-yard range at TNT in Utah. Shooting Federal Premium Gold Medal Sierra MatchKing 175gr.

8:28 Best group was right around 0.5–0.6 MOA. All shots easily covered by a quarter. Very nice grouping. A friend shooting his handloads got very similar results.

9:00 Recap: This is a really nice rifle packed with upgrades — B5 stock, Law Tactical folder, Radian charging handle & safety, two-stage trigger, bolt release, and that fantastic Faxon barrel.

9:37 The billet version comes in at around $2,000 at time of posting. The forged version is significantly cheaper (~$1,500). You’re definitely getting a very complete, feature-heavy rifle.

10:17 These are initial impressions after putting rounds through it and checking accuracy. So far, very good. PSA also has a lifetime warranty on all their products.

10:33 That’s it for me folks. If you have any questions or comments please ask below. Happy to help wherever I can. Until next time, we’ll catch you later.
